Serving Opportunities
God
has created you to serve. Thank you for your willingness to take this next step
of getting involved. It's easy to begin and our staff is ready to help you use
the gifts God has given you. Serving/Volunteering
at church can be such a joy to be able to give back to your church’s ministry
with your time
Why should
Christian’s serve/volunteer at their local church?
Christians should serve/volunteer at church to help their church minister
to others. Christians are called to serve one another. We are living like Jesus
did when we serve others. God is waiting
to use you in your local church to create community and reach others. Are you
willing to give up a couple of hours a week to see God move in your life and in
others when you use your skills in the Church to bring glory to God?
Why
Serve/Volunteer At Your Church?
Being a part of a church is an amazing experience. Creating community and
growing deeper in your relationship with Christ are some of the benefits of
being involved in the church. Sometimes
it is not that easy to create such a close community especially if you are new
to a church. It is hard to find people with similar lifestyles or interests as
you when there are so many people and only so little time to meet everyone.
If you looking to grow your relationships and community at church then
serve/volunteer; There are many benefits and reasons to volunteer at church,
but you will get to meet people interested in the same area you are interested
in. You will also get to naturally spend
time with people you might not otherwise, an amazing opportunity to connect
with others at church. If you are
already well connected there are even more people you can connect with and can
get to know through serving and volunteering.
What you learn while serving/volunteering can lead to opportunities in
the future. Not sure what you are good at? This is the time to find out, you
will get to try new things maybe like working with lighting or teaching kids,
and from these experiences, you may find a new talent or passion.
When Jesus came to earth he served others, he even gave up his life when
he died on the cross. He teaches us to serve as well. “Do you understand what I have done to you?
You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your
Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s
feet.”(John 13:12-14) Jesus’ life on
earth was characterized by his serving. Even as the Son of God he was serving
others and teaching us to do the same.
The church exists to bring glory to God, to grow closer to God, and grow
closer to others in the church. The Church also desires to reach out and be
known for their love. The church wants
to minister to the world around them and be the hands and feet of Jesus, and we
can be a part of that.
Being a member or regular attendee can impute certain responsibilities on
you, and one is to be a part of ministering to others. Serving is not required
while attending church, but can be a great blessing to you and the church. You may be surprised at the benefits of
serving at church, and how they reach into other areas of your life. Serving
helps make church a priority, if you are serving you now have an obligation to
go to church and can’t make up excuses not to go because others are counting on
you.
As the church desires to reach out to others and share the good news, you
can be a part of that by serving. You can be a part of helping the church grow and reach more people, not
only can it be a lot of fun and a great way to build new relationships, but we
are commanded by God to use the gifts God has given us to glorify God through
serving others.
